The Cabriolet version of the new generation Porsche 911 is ready to go on the road. The all-new Cabriolet Cabriolet is available in two versions: the rear-wheel-drive Carrera S and the four-wheel drive Carrera 4S.

Porsche unveiled its first 911 Cabriolet prototype at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt in September 1981. The first open-top version of the 911 came down from the production line in 1982 and has since become an indispensable part of the model range. Now the new version of the 911 Cabriolet is ready to go.

The new model, which evokes the modern lines of the Coupe, features a rear window that is integrated into a fully automatic soft roof. Magnesium surface elements in the structure of the soft roof prevents the roof from being thrown at high speeds. The soft roof can be opened and closed at speeds up to 50 km / h. The new roof hydraulic system reduces the opening time to around 12 seconds, and it is possible to protect the necks from the wind thanks to the electronically opened wind deflector.

Available in two versions

The 911 Cabriolet was originally introduced as a rear-wheel-drive Carrera S and four-wheel drive Carrera 4S. The two versions have a 3-liter six-cylinder boxer engine; It produces 450 PS power and 530 Nm of torque. Other optimization moves, such as turbochargers and a newly designed air cooling system, add power to the engine. Power is transferred via a newly developed 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Carrera S goes from zero to 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds (the optional  Sport Chrono Package drops to 3.7 seconds) and speeds up to 306 km / h. The top speed of the Carrera 4S is 304 km / h and comes from zero to 100 to 3.8 seconds ( this is 3.6 seconds in the optional  Sport Chrono Package ).

The cabriolet's torsion resistance is higher than the previous model thanks to the new engine connection position. For the first time, the 911 Cabriolet has a sports chassis with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system. The springs used for this purpose are harder and shorter, the front and rear stabilizer bars are more resistant and the chassis is generally 10 mm lower. Thanks to these settings, the 911 has a better weight distribution on the road.

The exterior design is inspired by previous generations of 911

The exterior of the new 911 Cabriolet is wider and generally more muscular than its predecessor. The wide wings are curved on the front 20-inch and 21-inch wheels on the rear. The rear-wheel drive models now have the same frame width as the existing four-wheel drive models. The new 911 Cabriolet is inspired by the old generation 911s: the forward hood makes a clear recess in front of the windscreen. Both elements extend the head of the vehicle and give it a dynamic look.

On the back of all the models, there is a very wide spoiler with a changeable position and a seamless light strip. All outer surface, except front and rear sections, is aluminum.

Redesigned interior space with clear lines

Its distinctive interior features clear and straight lines. As in the original 911, the instrument panel also covers the entire area between two horizontal wing levels. Two thin, frameless indicators on the sides of the rev counter in the center transmit information to the driver. In this model, the 10.9-inch  Porsche Communication Management  (PCM) center display can be used quickly and without distraction.

Advanced support systems provide safety and comfort

In this model, Porsche's Wet Mode is the first in the world. This device detects water in the road, adjusts the control systems accordingly and warns the driver; the driver can also be operated at the push of a button or the steering wheel button ( Sport Chrono Packagein the car is in a safe position. The standard camera warning and brake support system also detects the risk of collision with vehicles, pedestrians, bikes and, if necessary, gives a warning or activates the emergency brake procedure. In combination with the parking assist system, including a back-up camera, the Cabriolet's standard arrangement is completed. Other options offered by the 911 include Night Vision Support with thermal image camera, adjustable speed control with automatic distance control, stop-and-go function, and reversible passenger protection.
