Earlier in his statement, Volvo cautioned that they would not produce diesel engines but would invest in innovative technologies instead, and announced that the new S60 model will be the first vehicles without diesel options.

In Volvo's statement, it is announced that by 2019 diesel-powered vehicles will no longer be driven to the market.

Volvo's first diesel option is the S60, which will be introduced this year. The diesel-free vehicle will be sold with petrol and two plug-in hybrid options. Specific options for the US market will be announced later.

YOU WILL BE SINGLE CENTER

The production of the new S60 will begin at Volvo's newly built facilities outside of Charleston, South Carolina. The facility will be the sole center for the S60 and the US-built S60s will be sold worldwide.

The Swedish company sees its future as a hundred percent electric car brand like Tesla. Last month, CEO HÃ¥kan Samuelsson said, "Volvo has stopped putting funds on further development of internally burned technology."

YOU WILL HAVE A HALF OF 10 YEARS IN 2025

"We do not say that the diesel is dirtier, but it's more complicated and more expensive," Samuelsson said in his statement, by 2025, half of his sales would be cars equipped with pure electric motors.
