Producing a SEAT car requires intensive effort. And that includes the dance show that started with the first lights in the morning. Here, 2,000 robots and 1,700 factory workers work in perfect harmony, producing a car chassis that lasts just over a minute. Here are some details from this dance choreography that took place thanks to Industry 4.0:

It produces 2 thousand 300 pieces a day

Thousands of robots, acting in synchronous mode, produce 2 thousand 300 pieces a day. Robots move all day in harmony; assembling different body parts, mounting doors and measuring the geometry of the chassis.

Mechanical dancers in different sizes

Among the robots are mechanical dancers with different characteristics. The size of the smallest robots is slightly higher than a metronome, while the biggest ones are higher than six meters. Some robots are orange in color, others are yellow. Some have retaining arms, others have sensors. The common points are that they are all light and versatile. They can grasp and process even the parts that weigh up to 700 kilograms.

720 degree turns for 16 thousand points

Most robots have the ability to move on six axes. This allows countless movements, including ascending and descending, moving horizontally on the rails, and turning 720 degrees from their point of view. Each robot has the capacity to weld to the junction point of 16,000 a day on the body of the automobiles in the production band during this dance.

The movements of the robots are controlled by an orchestra chief

It is the responsibility of a team of 390 people to deal with the needs of the plant and to supervise the activities of the robots. The team monitors the coordination of the robot's work with other workers in real time from the control room.

Sensitivity to two-tenths of millimeters

Thanks to this choreography provided by the Industrial Revolution 4.0, robots do not only take over frequently repetitive jobs and heavy loads, but are also beginning to fulfill their increasingly precise tasks. As the pieces can be transferred between different positions on the production band, the robots can also weld, bolt tighten, polish the coating, and even detect deviations of two-thirds of the millimeter thanks to their precision sensors.

In harmony with factory workers

In the last step, the dancing of the robots meets the workers' retirements, and the final checks on the bodies produced are carried out by workers. People and robots working together in harmony produce a car body every 68 seconds.
