Japanese electronics giant Panasonic is considering producing a common battery with Tesla, an electric car maker in China.

Panasonic chief executive Kazuhiro Tsuga said Thursday that Tesla could build a full production plant in China and possibly produce it together. The company is currently building battery cells for Tesla in Japan and the US state of Nevada.

SEE AS AN IMPORTANT MARKET

Separately, Panasonic said full-year net profit rose due to the growth of automotive-related businesses. The Osaka-based company said net profit for March for the fiscal year was 236 billion yen, up 58% from the previous year.
