Swedish automaker Volvo shared the first official image and details of the fully electric C40 model, which rivals models such as Tesla 3 and Volkswagen ID.3.

The Volvo C40 Recharge model, whose production will start in the autumn of 2021, is a coupe-SUV class, namely a crossover car.

The C40, produced on the CMA vehicle platform, is the first Volvo model in history to be designed exclusively as fully electric. There are also internal combustion engine versions of the XC40 Recharge.The company aims that by 2025, 50 percent of its global sales volume will be fully electric cars and the rest will be hybrid models. In 2030, all cars sold will be fully electric.

"While the C40 Recharge represents Volvo's future, it also shows where we are heading," said Henrik Green, CTO of Volvo Cars (Chief Technology Officer).
