Korean automaker Hyundai introduced its second B-SUV, Hyundai Bayon, with its different styles and technologies.

The B-SUV segment, which consists of high-ground vehicles with a length of just over 4 meters, has been growing steadily in recent years. At least one model of each brand wants to get a share from this class. Hyundai, on the other hand, is very ambitious in the B-SUV segment. Bayon, the second model in this class, aims to meet the demands of all its customers with vehicles suitable for different styles and tastes.

Hyundai Bayon, the brother of Hyundai Kona, is ahead of its brother with its interior volume in terms of dimensions, according to its brother. Offering 374 liters of luggage, Hyundai Bayon can take more luggage than its brother, and it is more advantageous in the rear living area.

Sharing its infrastructure with the i20, Bayon also took its lines from its younger brother. B-crossover, which has managed to distinguish itself from other Hyundai models, seems to have used "unexplored areas" for the Korean brand. The multi-layered headlight layout at the front does not go unnoticed. The wide trapezoid grille between the arrow-shaped lighting elements emphasizes the sportiness.

Bayon continues its unique style in the back section as well. Again, the arrow-shaped taillights are connected by a thin strip that runs along the tailgate, just like in the i20.

Bayon, which is 14 cm longer than the third generation Hyundai i20, has a body of 4.18 meters and is almost up to Kona (4,200 mm). Its width is 1.77 meters. The cabin of the model, whose wheelbase is around 2,580 mm, is different from its brother Kona.

Following in the footsteps of the i20 in exterior design, but distinguishing itself from its close-to-ground brother, Bayon chose not to go far from the formula known inside. Sharing the digital instrument panel, multimedia screen, steering wheel and console design with the i20, Bayon has a 10.25 ″ infotainment system screen that offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Behind the steering wheel is a digital instrument panel with the same dimensions as the multimedia. Although this dial, whose graphics and theme can be changed, seems to put technology in the foreground, the main message Bayon wants to give is width.

Even the middle seat of Bayon, which is generous to the passengers in the rear seat in terms of both head and knee distance, is designed relatively useful. Although the loading area offered in the rectangular trunk is not the best in the segment, Bayon offers more volume than Kona, which is 1.2 cm longer than itself. The 411-liter luggage reaches up to 1,205 liters when the second row seats are folded down.

Rising from the K2 platform developed jointly by Hyundai and Kia, Bayon also bought its security equipment from its brother i20. It has many safety equipment such as active lane tracking assistant, blind spot warning and automatic emergency braking.

The remarkable security equipment of Bayon is Smart Cruise Control. The system that works in conjunction with the navigation is actually a kind of adaptive cruise control, but thanks to the capture of the directions in the directions, Bayon can automatically adjust its speed according to the bends.

Innovative technologies and intelligent manual transmission

The new Hyundai Bayon will be sold with gasoline engines, most of which are powered by electricity. The entry package of the model, which will not have a diesel engine option, will be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission with a 1.2 MPI atmospheric engine with 84 hp.

The next package includes the 1.0 T-GDI engine with 100 hp, which is also available in a mild hybrid version. Optionally, this package of Bayon, which comes with a smart manual gearbox called iMT6, can also be preferred with a 7-speed DCT double clutch. At the top of the bayon pyramid will be the 1.0 T-GDI with 120 horsepower with hybrid support, which can also be paired with iMT6 or DCT7.

The iMT6 transmission, offered with the 1.0 T-GDI engine's mild hybrid assisted options, is essentially a manual gearbox with an electronically controlled clutch pedal. When you press the pedal, the sensors signal the control unit, allowing the electro-hydraulic actuator to disengage the clutch.

The clutch's connection to an electronic unit leads to an advantage that cannot be achieved with conventional manual gears. This situation is called gliding mode. If the engine load is low, the system disengages the clutch and reduces fuel consumption by allowing the vehicle to move with the moment of inertia.

There is no information about the new Hyundai Bayon's prices and the date it will be available for sale. This new B-SUV, positioned between the Korean brand's i20 and Kona, will be placed between the two in terms of price.
