Returning to Formula 1, Aston Martin has also taken over security and medical vehicle duties. The 2021 Formula 1 Season will kick off with the Bahrain GP on March 28, but will unveil its newest vehicles at Aston Martin during pre-season tests in Bahrain.

Returning to Formula 1 after 60 years, British automaker Aston Martin will share its safety and medical vehicle duties with Mercedes-Benz, which has long been the sole supplier of F1, this season.

The relationship between Mercedes-Benz and Aston Martin has become increasingly closer in the past 12 months, thanks to shareholding agreements and increasingly technical cooperation agreements. It was recently announced that Mercedes-Benz will increase its stake in Aston Martin to 20%, while also sharing a range of high-end technologies, including power unit architecture and future electrical/electronics architecture between the two parties.

F1 SAFETY CAR ASTON MARTIN (Security Vehicle)

Aston Martin has developed a specially equipped Vantage so that the security vehicle can take on its duties. Designed by a dedicated team at the Aston Martin factory in Gaydon, England, the Vantage will carry significant chassis and aerodynamic improvements to deliver improved track-top performance and lap times.

The car has a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine and can produce 528 horsepower. This car, which has a torque of 685 Nm, can go from 0 to 100 kilometers in 3.5 seconds. At the same time, the vehicle has a brand new aerodynamic structure, so it can produce 155.6 kg of downforce at 200 km / h, which is 60 kg more than a regular Vantage.

Inside the cockpit, there is a live TV, a live lap times screen and a total of two screens showing the runway positioning of all pilots for the occupants to follow the events instantly.

F1 MEDİCAL CAR ASTON MARTİN (Medical Vehicle)

In addition to the Vantage safety vehicle, the Aston Martin DBX, the brand's first SUV model, will also take on the role of a medical vehicle. This vehicle, driven by Alan van der Merwe and with Dr Ian Roberts (FIA F1 medical response coordinator) sharing the second seat, is behind the grid in the first lap of the races and then intervenes in the event of a medical emergency on the track when necessary.

Equipped with a 4-liter biturbo V8 engine used in the DB11 and Vantage, the DBX has 542 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers in 4.3 seconds and its top speed is 291 km/h.

The car contains a substantial amount of equipment, including a large medical bag, defibrillator, two fire extinguishers and a fire kit. As with the safety car, two displays are mounted in the instrument cluster to provide live images of the racing. There is also an additional screen for reading live biometric data transmitted through the technology in driver gloves. This screen provides critical information about the drivers' status in the event of an accident.
