In the past weeks, it was revealed that the second-generation approval of Mercedes Citan was obtained. The small commercial model was spotted in Scandinavia, with heavy camouflages, although not much time passed!

The second generation Mercedes Citan is coming: Here are the first images!

The first generation Mercedes Citan, based on Renault Kangoo, managed to make the German brand smile in the European market. The approved second generation of the vehicle is also following the path of its predecessor. It is seen that the front and back side of the new Citan, which is sister with Kangoo G5 and Dacia Dokker, have been redesigned. Apart from that, it is not possible to think about the exterior design of the model due to the heavy camouflage on it.

The new generation Citan, which will rise on the CMF-C platform used in Renault Megane, will see a significant improvement on the side of the passenger and cargo area. In the redesigned interior, a modern infotainment system and better material quality are expected.

There is no information about the engine options of the second generation Mercedes Citan. However, it is considered that Renault has a proven 1.3 liter TCe and 1.5 liter dCi engines. In addition, it is stated that the fully electric e-Citan version, which shares the same infrastructure with Renault Zoe and has a range of 350 km, was prepared for 2022.

Sources close to Mercedes mark the end of the year or the first quarter of 2021 as the launch date of the light commercial model. This shows that the new Citan will be on the road in the same period as the 5th generation Kangoo. Finally, it should be noted that the new Mercedes Citan will leave the France Maubeuge factory, where Renault Kangoo will also be produced.
