The Ford 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine received the International Motor and Power Transmission (IEPOTY) rating of the Year in the ”Under 150 PS ın category.

Ford's powerful, efficient and versatile 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine received the 2019 International Motor and Power Transmission (IEPOTY) award in the Yıl Under 150 PS 201 category. The Ford 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine, which received a total of 145 points from 70 members of the IEPOTY jury from 31 countries, won the first place in the category in which it competed with 26 points ahead of its competitors. The engine, which attracts attention with its fast response and driving pleasure, increased the number of IEPOTY awards to 11 since it was launched in 2012.

The compact, low-friction engine capable of generating power up to 140 PS has powered 1 out of every 4 Ford models sold in Europe in 2018. To date, more than 410,000 vehicles have been equipped with this engine, from the Fiesta hatchback family car to the Transit family.

Ford used the 1.0-liter EcoBoost gasoline engine, previously used in the Ford Focus, with a variety of technologies, including the first cylinder deactivation system in the industry for a three-cylinder engine to ensure even more efficient fuel consumption. Significant improvements in cylinder head, fuel injection and emission control systems are also complementing the basic EcoBoost turbocharger, high-pressure direct fuel injection and Twin Independent Variable Cam Timing technologies. The improved engine is planned to be available in more models this year.

1.6 million 1.0-liter EcoBoost on roads

Carsten Weber, director of the Ford European Research and PTO department, said that the 1.0-liter EcoBoost continues to set new standards for compact gasoline engines, even after 7 years and 11 awards from the first IEPOTY award. The engine is traveling and we still continue to reveal its potential. A new, more fuel-efficient, electrified drivetrain with 1.0-liter EcoBoost in the center will be on its way soon.

EcoBoost enhances fuel efficiency while complementing driving pleasure in new hybrid vehicles

Ford announced earlier this year that the 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine will be the base for powerful and fast-response drivetrain on the new Fiesta EcoBoost Hybrid and Focus EcoBoost Hybrid models, boosting fuel efficiency and complementing Ford's driving pleasure.

The belt-driven integrated starter generator (BISG) replaces the standard alternator, allowing for the recovery and storage of lost electrical energy at the time of braking and decelerating, and the charging of the 48-volt battery kit. BISG, which also acts as a motor, integrates seamlessly with the engine and reduces the effort required by gasoline engines to maximize fuel economy by using stored energy to provide torque support. BISG also offers more efficient and more efficient performance, especially at low speeds for a connected driving experience. By reducing the delays in turbocharging, BISG enables Ford engineers to increase the power of a 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine to up to 155 PS using a larger turbocharger.

The versatile 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine will support the first Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid van and Tourneo Custom Plug-In Hybrid passenger carrier models in its class to give pure electric driving capability without the concern of range. The Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid is currently being tested in London to better understand its advantages for the environment and customers. The tests will start soon in Valencia (Spain) and Cologne (Germany).

Ford 1.0 liter EcoBoost's IEPOTY awards so far are as follows:

General first : 2012, 2013 and 2014
Best new engine : 2012
The best 1.0 liter six engines : 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017
Category winner under 150 PS : 2019
